Our comprehensive support, including emergency services, 12-step recovery programs, family accommodations, job training, education, and workforce development. We hope to serve as a compassionate conduit to fostering a healthy, meaningful life.

Los Angeles is a world-class city renowned for its connection to Hollywood films, A-list celebrities, and all the glitz and glamor in between. But in the heart of Los Angeles, there lies a place where the shadows of skyscrapers cast a veil over a community often overlooked and underserved.  As an international student from Shanghai, I was immediately confronted by the staggering number of unhoused women in South Central Los Angeles upon my arrival. My studies in Real Estate Development have continually highlighted the multifaceted issue of homelessness, explored through lenses such as urban planning, policy, housing design, and public health. Four years later, my passion for social change is unwavering, driven by a vision to reshape Los Angeles into a city where dignity is afforded to all.

Homeless women face unique vulnerabilities, including higher risks of sexual assault, human trafficking, and health problems. Many are also responsible for children, further complicating their access to shelter and resources. Social stigmas and safety concerns make it difficult for them to seek help or access public services. 

Central to this vision is Dusk to Dawn, the women's service organization in LA, located in the heart of Skid Row. This organization is committed to tackling the multifaceted issues of homelessness, hunger, and poverty by implementing a holistic approach. From providing immediate relief through meals and shelter to offering comprehensive support services such as job training, mental health counseling, and addiction recovery programs, Midnight Mission is a lifeline for those in need. Each year, it delivers over 1 million meals and has earned the distinction of #1 ranked homeless shelter in Los Angeles.

There is one woman’s story that truly inspires me. Veronica lost everything as the result of her addiction to prescription medication. She was depressed and anxious. She had given up on her life and lost all motivation and hope. She lost her family and ended up at a hospital with nowhere else to turn to. Through Midnight Mission, she was able to recover one day at a time and overcome her addiction. Veronica’s story is one of many, and yet there are countless more individuals in desperate need of their voices being heard and their stories told.

One of the many transformative stories is that of Veronica, who lost everything due to her addiction to prescription medication. Overwhelmed by depression and anxiety, she was disconnected from her family and life itself, eventually finding refuge only at a hospital. Dusk to Dawn offered her a path to recovery, helping her overcome her addiction and reclaim her life, one day at a time. Veronica’s story is one of many, and yet there are countless more women in desperate need of their voices being heard and their stories told.

We seek the partnership of Anima Mundi Development Partners with a proposed donation of $300,000 to scale Dusk to Dawn's impactful work. This investment will not only enhance Anima Mundi’s social responsibility profile but will also directly contribute to societal well-being on an international scale. This partnership offers Anima Mundi the opportunity to be at the forefront of meaningful change in Los Angeles, showcasing a commitment to social issues that resonate deeply with shared global values.
